What it is for

Nextriv Display Signage solves a problem whose scale only becomes visible once you count it: how many times a month someone in your company prints, cuts out and swaps paper signs — on meeting room doors, on warehouse racks, on store shelves, at production workstations. This wireless e-ink display replaces paper with remotely updated content: no power cable, no Wi-Fi, no ladder. It hangs where the paper used to be — and changes its content from your system.

At the heart of the product is a bistable screen: the image stays visible with zero power draw — current flows only during the dozen-or-so seconds of a refresh. Hence the surprising endurance: three coin-cell batteries can last around 5 years at one content change per day. The 4.2" screen renders three pigment colours — black, white and red, perfect for highlights and alerts — is readable at nearly 180° like paper, and is flexible and shatter-resistant on top of that. It will survive a warehouse and a production hall.

Content is fully template-driven: text fields, images and QR codes arranged in ready-made templates for specific scenarios — office, retail, healthcare, hotel — with support for around 150 languages. A single display is configured with a tap of your phone (NFC), while a fleet of hundreds of labels is updated in bulk with one command (multicast) or straight from your own system via an open API.

A separate, often underrated role is acting as a local screen for the entire measurement system: Display Signage can show live readings from any sensors connected to the Nextriv platform — including the ones that have no display of their own. The freezer temperature on a sign right by its door, a room's CO₂ and humidity on the wall at the entrance, a tank level at the operator's station: data that normally lives on a dashboard becomes visible exactly where it is needed.

It is a bridge product: it connects the world of IT systems — bookings, WMS, ERP, price lists — with the physical space of a building. The decision is made in the system, and a dozen seconds later it hangs on the wall, exactly where an employee, customer or guest is meant to see it.

Usage scenarios

• Meeting room signs: "free/busy" status, organiser and agenda straight from the booking system; the red pigment signals occupancy from a distance. One bulk command in the morning updates every sign in the building.
• Hot-desking: the desk label shows who booked it today, and a QR code links to the booking app — no more "that's my desk" disputes in a hybrid office.
• Warehouse: location and picking-zone labels updated straight from the warehouse management system — when racks are reorganised, nobody prints hundreds of new sheets; the change rolls out "from the system" in seconds.
• Manufacturing: a workstation display shows the batch number, order status and the instruction for the current operation; red is reserved for holds and quality alerts.
• Local measurement readout: a sign by the freezer door shows the chamber's current temperature from the sensor inside, and one at the meeting room entrance shows live CO₂ — staff see the status without reaching for a phone or a dashboard.
• Retail: shelf prices and promotions changed remotely across the whole chain within an hour of head office's decision; a QR code next to the price links to product details or reviews.
• Healthcare and hotels: a sign by a patient room (diet, care notes, attending physician) or a hotel room ("do not disturb", VIP guest name) — updated from the system, without entering the room.

In the Nextriv system

Display Signage is a first-class device on the Nextriv network: it connects through the same gateways as the sensors, so a single access point serves both the measurements and the signage of an entire building — no Wi-Fi and no extra infrastructure. Once connected, the device appears in the platform automatically, with metadata such as battery status, and if it stops reporting it lands on the offline device list and raises an alert — a "dead" sign hanging in a corridor won't go unnoticed for weeks.

You track the display fleet on the same dashboards where your sensor data lives, and problem notifications arrive over your choice of six channels — from email and SMS to MS Teams and Discord. Thanks to the open API, content can flow from the systems you already use: room bookings, WMS or ERP.
