Environmental condition monitoring in the laboratory
−80 °C freezers, incubators and reagents under continuous supervision — with a calibration registry, alert escalation and audit-ready ISO/IEC 17025 documentation.

Sound familiar?
Priceless samples in a single freezer
An ultra-low freezer failure can destroy research material collected over years — and the window to react is often just a few hours.
Accreditation demands records
ISO/IEC 17025 expects environmental conditions to be monitored and recorded. Manual control sheets are labour-intensive and easy to challenge.
Calibrations in a spreadsheet
Calibration certificates scattered across binders and missed due dates are among the most common audit findings.
Conditions affect results
Unstable temperature or humidity in a workroom undermines the validity of determinations — and without a continuous record you can't prove conditions were within limits.
How Nextriv solves it
From −200 °C to incubators
PT100 probes measure from deep freeze to high-temperature processes, while Probe loggers watch reagent fridges, freezers and climate chambers.
Calibration oversight
Every sensor in the platform carries its calibration date, next due date, attached certificate and notes. The reminder arrives before the certificate expires.
Air quality in workrooms
Sense IAQ Pro measures up to 9 parameters — temperature, humidity, CO₂, TVOC, PM2.5/PM10, pressure and more — wherever the working environment and room cleanliness matter.
Alerts before samples suffer
Four thresholds per metric and escalation policies: a warning at −75 °C, a critical alarm at −70 °C, an SMS to the manager when nobody acknowledges the event.
Audit documentation on demand
PDF reports with statistics and threshold compliance, XLSX/CSV exports and an audit trail of user actions — everything ready for the auditor's visit.
Stability visible in trends
Aggregates from 1 minute to 1 day and sensor comparison reveal equipment drift and seasonality — a hard argument for equipment qualification and service planning.
Recommended products

The rule guards the working range of an ultra-low freezer. Warning thresholds buy time to react before things get critical:
- If
The freezer temperature rises above the warning threshold of −75 °C and an hour later crosses the critical threshold of −70 °C.
- Then
The platform opens a critical event with an ALM code and sends an email and web push to the technician on duty — the warning already went out at −75 °C.
- Escalation 1
No acknowledgement within 15 minutes — an SMS goes to the laboratory manager.
- Escalation 2
After another 15 minutes the notification reaches the “Maintenance” group and the external laboratory equipment service.
- Escalation 3
The team moves the samples to the backup freezer and acknowledges the event — the full timeline with comments stays in the history as the deviation record.
Compliance and standards
ISO/IEC 17025
The accreditation standard requires environmental conditions to be monitored, controlled and recorded. Nextriv automates the record and retains the history — supporting the requirements you demonstrate during assessment.
GLP / GMP
Good laboratory and manufacturing practice principles expect oversight of test conditions and measuring equipment. The calibration registry and audit trail support these requirements.
ISO 15189
Medical laboratories document storage conditions for reagents and biological material. Continuous logging with alerts replaces manual control sheets.
EN 12830
The Probe Solo and Probe Duo loggers and Sense Essential are EN 12830 certified — a recognised standard for temperature recording in storage.
Frequently asked questions
Will Nextriv help with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation?
Yes — for environmental condition monitoring and equipment oversight: continuous temperature and humidity logging, a calibration registry with certificates and reminders, and reports and exports for the assessment. Accreditation itself remains the organisation's process — the platform supplies the evidence.
How do I monitor a −80 °C ultra-low freezer?
Place a PT100 probe variant rated from −200 °C inside the chamber and mount the transmitter outside. Set thresholds in the platform (e.g. warning at −75 °C, critical at −70 °C) and an escalation policy — the alert arrives by SMS, email, web push or the in-app sound alarm before samples are at risk.
How does the sensor calibration registry work?
For each sensor you record the calibration date, next due date, certificate number and notes — the platform reminds you about approaching deadlines. Probe logger probes are detachable and carry their own identifier reported with the data, ensuring calibration traceability.
Can I also monitor CO₂ and particulates in a workroom?
Yes — Sense IAQ Pro measures temperature, humidity, CO₂, TVOC, PM2.5/PM10 particulates, pressure, light and motion in a single device, with an on-site e-ink screen and full history in the platform.
What happens to the data when connectivity drops?
Sensors buffer measurements locally (the Probe family around 1000–4000 records, IAQ Pro up to 18,000) and resend them automatically once connectivity returns. The platform additionally marks a sensor offline after twice its reporting interval — so you know about the problem right away.
