Temperature and humidity monitoring for pharma
Continuous condition logging in pharmacy fridges, warehouses and wholesale — with SMS alerts, signed PDF reports and a 5-year history for GDP audits.

Sound familiar?
Paper temperature logs
Manual readings twice a day won't catch a fridge failing overnight, and before an audit you end up digging through binders of loose sheets.
Failures outside working hours
A 2–8 °C medicine fridge fails most often at night or on a weekend. Without automatic alerts you learn about it in the morning — after the loss.
GDP audits without complete evidence
Inspectors expect continuous records and credible, consistent documentation. Every gap in the measurement history becomes a finding in the audit report.
Expired calibration certificates
Every measurement point needs periodic calibration. Tracking due dates in a spreadsheet sooner or later ends with one being missed.
How Nextriv solves it
Continuous logging with EN 12830-class sensors
Nextriv Probe sensors record 2–8 °C in fridges and 15–25 °C in warehouses with ±0.2–0.5 °C accuracy — around the clock, for years on a single battery.
4 alarm thresholds and escalations
Each metric gets warning and critical thresholds (min/max). Alerts go out via email, SMS, web push, Teams or Discord, and the escalation policy notifies the next people until someone acknowledges the event.
Signed PDF reports
Reports with a SHA-256 signature, QR code and verification URL — a document whose integrity an auditor can check independently. A schedule sends them automatically every week.
5 years of history and an audit trail
The platform keeps raw measurements for up to 1825 days (5 years), and the audit trail records every action in the system — full data accountability at inspection time.
Calibration registry with reminders
Calibration date, next due date, certificate and notes on every sensor. The platform reminds you before a certificate expires.
History without gaps
Sensors buffer thousands of measurements locally and resend them after a connectivity outage — the record stays continuous even when the internet fails.
Recommended products
Nextriv hardware picked for this industry — up and running with the platform in minutes.

Nextriv Probe Solo
A logger with a detachable probe for pharmacy fridges and 2–8 °C chambers. EN 12830 certified, 4000-record buffer, probe calibrated independently of the transmitter.

A rule with four thresholds guards the 2–8 °C range. Here is the escalation that won't let a failure wait until morning:
- If
The temperature in the medicine fridge crosses the critical threshold of 8 °C — earlier, at 7.5 °C, the system already sent a warning.
- Then
The platform opens a critical event with an ALM code and immediately sends an email and web push to the pharmacist on duty.
- Escalation 1
No acknowledgement within 10 minutes — an SMS goes to the pharmacy manager (the “if not acknowledged” condition).
- Escalation 2
After another 15 minutes the notification reaches the “Quality” recipient group and the external refrigeration service.
- Escalation 3
Once the temperature returns to range, the system sends a recovery notification, and the whole event — with comments and reaction times — stays in the history for audits.
Compliance and standards
EU GDP
Good Distribution Practice requires monitoring and documenting medicine storage conditions. Nextriv supports compliance: continuous logging, deviation alerts, reports and a multi-year measurement history.
FDA 21 CFR Part 11
Electronic records requirements: access control (roles, 2FA), an audit trail retained for 5 years and PDF reports with cryptographic integrity verification support Part 11 compliance.
EN 12830
The Probe Solo and Probe Duo loggers and Sense Essential are EN 12830 certified for temperature recorders in transport and storage — a standard referenced in pharmaceutical audits.
National pharmacy regulations
Polish regulations require pharmacies to control temperature and humidity in rooms and refrigeration equipment. Nextriv automates the record and generates documentation on demand.
Frequently asked questions
Does Nextriv meet GDP requirements for temperature monitoring?
Nextriv provides the mechanisms GDP expects: continuous measurement logging, deviation alerts with escalation, PDF reports and a multi-year data history. Process qualification and validation remain with your organisation — the platform supplies the data and documentation to support it.
Does the platform support 21 CFR Part 11 compliance?
Yes, for electronic records: accounts with roles and 2FA, an audit trail of all actions retained for 5 years, and PDF reports signed with SHA-256 plus a verification URL and QR code. Formal validation of the computerised system remains the user's responsibility.
How do I monitor a 2–8 °C pharmacy fridge?
Place the Nextriv Probe Solo probe inside the fridge (the transmitter stays outside) and set four thresholds in the platform — e.g. warnings at 2.5 and 7.5 °C and critical at 2 and 8 °C. The alert arrives by email, SMS, web push or the in-app sound alarm before medicines are genuinely at risk.
How long is the measurement history retained?
Raw data is kept for up to 1825 days (5 years) — without aggregation or loss of detail; a full year of history is already included for free. The audit trail also covers 5 years.
Can the sensors be calibrated?
Yes. Probe-family probes are detachable (M12 connector) — you send just the probe to the calibration laboratory without dismounting the transmitter. In the platform you record the calibration date, next due date and certificate, and the system reminds you ahead of time.
