What it is for

Nextriv Probe Duo logger with protective caps on the probe connector

Where temperature decides safety, humidity decides quality. Cheese ripens badly in a chamber that's too dry, medicine packaging absorbs moisture in the warehouse, archival materials crumble when the microclimate fluctuates. The Nextriv Probe Duo is an EN 12830 certified data logger with a dual-parameter probe that completes the full microclimate picture from a single measurement point: temperature and relative humidity.

At the heart of the probe is a precision MEMS sensor: ±0.2 °C across the typical operating range and ±2% relative humidity, with drift so low — below 0.03 °C and 0.2% RH per year — that calibration intervals stop being guesswork. As across the whole Nextriv logger family, the probe is detachable (M12 connector), carries its own identifier reported in the data, and is calibrated independently of the logger — with no gap in supervision and no loss of traceability.

The result: one small device replaces the "thermometer + hygrometer + notebook" kit, and along the way meets requirements that trio never could — continuous logging of 4,000 readings with retransmission after outages, alarms on both parameters, data export for audits and remote firmware updates. With a probe range up to +125 °C, the same device serves a freezer room, a ripening room and a drying chamber.

Usage scenarios

  • Cheese or charcuterie ripening room: one point watches both parameters that determine how ripening proceeds. Humidity drifting out of range means an alert to the technologist before the batch loses its grade.
  • Pharmaceutical warehouse: continuous, auditable logging of temperature and humidity on racks and in receiving zones. The buffer and retransmission close the record-completeness requirement of good distribution practice.
  • Archive / museum / library: a discreet probe in a display case or on a shelf, the logger placed where the signal is good. Microclimate stability documented with a chart, not a feeling.
  • Drying chamber (timber, herbs, pasta): the probe's range up to +125 °C lets you log the drying cycle where ordinary room hygrometers cannot go.
  • Climate chamber / laboratory: an independently calibrated probe with its identifier in the data — clean data for validating chambers and processes.
  • Protected cultivation: controlling the temperature–humidity pair in a seedling tunnel, where a night that's too humid is an open invitation to fungal disease.

Key features

Open battery compartment of the Nextriv Probe Duo with its replaceable battery

  • Two parameters from one probe: temperature −40…+125 °C and humidity 0–100% RH — the full microclimate from a single measurement point.
  • Measurement class: ±0.2 °C and ±2% RH, with exceptionally low annual drift (<0.03 °C; <0.2% RH).
  • EN 12830 certified — a logger that supports HACCP and good distribution practice requirements, not a gadget.
  • Detachable probe (M12) with its own identifier — independent calibration, traceability in the data.
  • 4,000-reading buffer, retransmission, backfill polling, CSV export.
  • Threshold alarms and rapid-change alarms independently for both parameters; software offset correction for temperature and humidity.
  • Remote firmware updates (FUOTA), configuration via NFC.
  • IP67, compact 58 × 65 × 25 mm, approx. 70 g; mounts with screws, a strap or magnetically (accessory); approx. 9–10 years on a replaceable battery.

In the Nextriv system

Each of the two parameters gets its own set of four thresholds — so in a ripening room you can simultaneously watch the tight process window (warnings) and the batch safety limits (critical alarms). Notifications via SMS, email, push, Microsoft Teams or Discord, with escalation policies and quiet hours where silencing is a deliberate decision. Event statuses and comments build a deviation log ready for an audit.

The dashboard lines up temperature and humidity from many chambers on a single screen, the calibration register reminds you of calibration due dates, and PDF reports plus XLSX/CSV exports feed your quality documentation. When temperature alone is enough, the lighter variant of the same platform is the Nextriv Probe Solo.

Typical deployments

  • Pharma: warehouses and receiving zones under good distribution practice — pharma solutions.
  • Cold storage and ripening rooms: cheese, charcuterie, fruit — cold storage solutions.
  • Museums and archives: the microclimate of collections and display cases — museum solutions.
  • Food service and laboratories: back-of-house areas, climate chambers and processes — solutions for food service and laboratories.
