What it is for

Indoor climate is invisible — until you see the consequences. Warped exhibit frames, a damp archive, medicines stored outside their requirements, staff complaining about stuffy air. Nextriv Sense Display was built for people responsible for conditions in dozens of rooms at once: building managers, collection curators, hospital pharmacy leads and facility teams. Instead of rounds with a thermo-hygrometer and a notebook — continuous, automatic logging of temperature and humidity that flows into the Nextriv platform without laying a single metre of cable.
The strength of this sensor lies in its apparent simplicity: it measures "only" two parameters, but does so with lab-grade accuracy (±0.2 °C), and runs for over 7 years on a single pair of replaceable batteries — the display-free variant even exceeds 9. The version with a paper-like e-ink display shows readings on the spot, as legibly as a printed page, in a light or dark theme — anyone entering the room sees the climate without reaching for a phone. The display-free version disappears on the wall and simply does its job.
It is also a device that doesn't sulk when reality intervenes. If connectivity drops for a while, the sensor buffers measurements locally (approx. 1280 records) and forwards them once coverage returns — the history of conditions has no gaps. During audits of medicine or museum-collection storage, that can be the difference between "compliant" and "non-compliant".
Long-range radio punches through floors and walls where Wi-Fi gave up long ago: up to approx. 2 km in urban environments and approx. 15 km in open terrain. A single Nextriv gateway covers an entire building — or an entire campus.
Usage scenarios
- Museum: discreet sensors in exhibition halls keep temperature and humidity stable for sensitive exhibits. Curators get an alert before conditions can harm the objects — exactly how deployments of this class of devices work in European museums.
- Hospital and hospital pharmacy: monitoring of pharmaceutical storage rooms replaces manual readings. Staff gain a centralised record of conditions for inspections, and the number of walk-rounds drops — a pattern proven in deployments of this class of devices in European hospitals.
- Archive and library: paper likes 40–60 % humidity. The sensor catches creeping dampness in the stacks before mould appears, and multi-year battery life means zero servicing of high-bay shelving.
- Conference room: the display variant by the door shows the current climate — the office manager stops being the "stuffy air hotline". Historical data settles disputes about air-conditioning setpoints with hard numbers.
- HVAC service: sensors deployed at a client's site for the duration of a diagnosis reveal overheated and overcooled zones. A report from a week of measurements becomes the argument for rebalancing the system and genuinely cutting bills.
- Pharmaceutical wholesaler: the measurement buffer with retransmission delivers continuous documentation of storage conditions — even behind locked doors over the weekend.
Key features

- Paper-like 2.13″ e-ink display — readable from any angle and in full sunlight, with light and dark themes; it draws power only when the image changes.
- Smart display mode: refreshes are paused while readings are stable (configurable 2–1080 min) — the screen doesn't burn battery "for show".
- Two variants: with a display (communicating with people in the room) or without (discretion and over 9 years of battery life).
- Set up with a single tap of a smartphone (NFC) — no opening the enclosure, no laptop on a ladder; remote reconfiguration via downlink.
- Tri-colour status LED — device and condition status at a glance.
- Buffer of approx. 1280 measurements with automatic retransmission — a connectivity outage leaves no hole in the history.
- Hibernation mode for idle periods (e.g. seasonal facilities) — batteries don't drain for nothing.
- Mounted in a minute: industrial 3M tape or screws, including anti-theft Torx for public spaces.
- Replaceable batteries in a common standard — a dead battery doesn't mean a dead device.
In the Nextriv system
Every reading lands in the Nextriv platform, where temperature and humidity can each carry four alarm thresholds — two warning and two critical. A breach triggers notifications on your chosen channels: e-mail, SMS, web push, Discord, MS Teams or an in-app sound — and the webhooks integration forwards the event to the customer's own systems. The platform also detects silence: if a sensor stays quiet for twice its reporting interval, it is flagged as offline.
The data falls into dashboards (nearly 20 widget types — from live readings to multi-series charts and compliance tables), and PDF reports document storage conditions for any period. Measurement history reaches back up to 5 years — enough to answer an auditor's questions about last summer.
The platform also keeps a calibration log for every sensor — with the date, the next calibration due date and a slot for the certificate — and reminds you of approaching deadlines on its own. And when someone outside the team needs to see the conditions, selected readings can be shared as a public view with no login — just a link.
Typical deployments
- Museums and archives: stable conditions for collections, alerts on deviations from conservation norms, documentation for the conservator and the insurer.
- Pharma: documented monitoring of rooms holding medicines — a continuous measurement history for inspections.
- Offices and buildings: a display at the entrance shows the room's climate, while the data feeds decisions on HVAC setpoints.
- Schools: mass roll-out with no cabling — tape mounting and NFC setup in a few minutes per point.
