What it is for

Nextriv Sense Door — sensor and magnet, front view

The simplest questions are often the most important: is the warehouse door closed? Was the display case opened overnight? Is the roof hatch where it was yesterday? Nextriv Sense Door answers them in real time. It is a classic magnetic contact — two compact parts on the leaf and the frame — that reports every state change immediately and the resting state at regular intervals.

One sentence separates it from an ordinary alarm-system contact, and every administrator will appreciate it: the sensor knows when someone tries to take it down. Built-in removal detection raises a separate tamper alarm the moment the device is pulled off its surface — an attempt to defeat the monitoring becomes an event in itself. Combined with long-range wireless connectivity and years of battery life, the sensor fits places where cables will never go: a warehouse gate, a museum display case, a medicine cabinet, the fence gate of a pumping station.

Sense Door deliberately does not measure temperature or humidity — it does one thing and does it affordably, so you can cover every door in the building, not just the "important" ones. Where the room climate matters next to the door state, the natural companion is Nextriv Sense Contact.

Usage scenes

  • Warehouse and back-of-house: every opening outside working hours is an instant notification — with the event history doubling as an access log.
  • Museum: display cases and collection-storage doors; the tamper alarm catches an attempt to remove the sensor before anything goes missing.
  • Pharmacy and clinic: the controlled-substances cabinet — a record of every opening without extending the alarm system.
  • Unmanned technical sites: hatches, gates and doors of pumping or transformer stations, monitored for years on one battery.

Key features

Underside of Nextriv Sense Door with mounting pad and tamper button

  • Instant report of every state change: open / closed.
  • Separate tamper alarm when the sensor is pulled off its surface.
  • Compact size; tool-free mounting (3M tape) or screws.
  • 4.2–6.8 years on a single replaceable battery.
  • NFC configuration — no need to open the housing.

In the Nextriv system

Every opening and every tamper alarm flows through the same notification engine as the rest of the platform: six channels (e-mail, SMS, web push, Discord, MS Teams, in-app sound), escalation policies and a full event history with comments. Alarm rules are configured with a direction toggle — "alert when open" or "alert when closed" — separately for the door state and for tamper. Rule schedules let you alert only outside working hours, and the floor plan shows exactly which door reported the event.

Typical deployments

  • Office buildings: technical doors, floor server rooms and switchboards across the whole portfolio in one panel.
  • Retail: back rooms and store warehouses — identical configuration in every location.
  • Hotels: linen stores, liquor storage and technical rooms beyond the front desk.
